Official API Pricing
Verified October 8, 2026. These are standard, uncached global API prices in USD per million tokens. The threshold is input tokens in a single request, not the monthly total.
| Input tokens per request | Input USD / million | Output USD / million |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 100,000 | $0.10 | $0.50 |
| More than 100,000 | $0.50 | $2.50 |
Input vs Output Token Pricing
Input tokens represent the request content; output tokens represent generated content billed by the provider. Include billable reasoning output in your output estimate. For mixed request sizes, calculate each tier separately and add the totals.

Rate: $0.10 input / $0.50 output per million tokens (USD). Official source · Verified 2026-10-08. Arithmetic estimate; standard uncached requests only.
Example Monthly Costs
Estimated from the official standard rates using inputTokens / 1,000,000 × inputPrice plus outputTokens / 1,000,000 × outputPrice. These examples are arithmetic, not measured invoices.
| Monthly input / output tokens | All requests ≤100K input | All requests >100K input |
|---|---|---|
| 1M / 200K | $0.20 | $1.00 |
| 10M / 2M | $2.00 | $10.00 |
Comparison With Other Haiku Models
Haiku 4.5 standard uncached pricing is $1 input / $5 output per million tokens. That is a separate model’s price, not a fallback rate for Haiku 5.5.
Cost Optimization
- Measure input and billable output separately before estimating usage.
- Use the published Batch option for eligible asynchronous work; it is priced at half of standard token rates.
- Check cache write and read charges before assuming repeated prompts are free.
- Reduce unnecessary context and set output budgets without compromising task quality.
Frequently asked questions
Does monthly usage above the context threshold trigger higher prices?
No. The tier depends on input length per request. Monthly totals are used only to estimate accumulated cost.
What happens if official pricing is unavailable?
The calculator requires a verified price record. Without one, it displays “Official pricing not publicly confirmed” and produces no estimate.
